I have a felling I'll be waiting for an egg for a while...the girls are molting as well. I'll probably throw a party when I get the first egg.

Why not? It is school holidays. But a party is a party!

@abpatchy, Party at our house! I came home from work this afternoon and both of my daughters were all excited....out FIRST EGG! Perfect shape and white as snow! Laid by our girl Bella.

We were not even really expecting it! My son and his friend moved the coop and then moved the girls into it. As they were setting the run up, they heard Bella singing and when they looked....an EGG!
Thanks! She is our youngest and Bella is hers.

Hey, I'm living in GERMANY! and have peeps in my backyard. Not German though, just ended up here. My British/Canadian heart wanted Sussex hens, not so easy here to get, but eventually I found some and love the breed to bits now. I've got 14 eggs in two incubators at the moment, because you just can't have too many Sussex chickens, with hawks around. They took three last winter, so I am replenishing my stock, it's chicken math. Here is my rooster, he's a bit of a asshole but is super good with his chicks and girls, so he earns his keep.
