So does anybody have Sultan chicken? As I mentioned I am considering buying a pair but Wikipedia says they only lay 50 eggs/year, so I would like to know if that is true from real experience.

a friend of mine had sultan chickens. they lay few eggs, 50-100 per year. for the first 2 years they lay more, later they might lay even less than 50.

It sure has gotten quiet here.... everybody ok?
My chicks are growing and are looking good. I am starting to take out the ones that will not make the cut. I butchered the first roosters and sold some hens.
The six white chicks that hatched (from wheaten parents) were 4 roosters and 2 hens. The hens have a new home already as of next weekend. It's funny because they are white but when you look close you can see some light color in the feathers.... but only in some places.

Personally everything is fine. But the chickens aren’t going flawlessly.

I did have a some broody issues this year. The chickens seem more determined to hatch unfertilised eggs this year. :he One of the newcomers (bantam RIR) turned out to be a persistent broody type. She kept going back to the nest boxes to sit for 3 weeks (while locking her out ).

I think I already mentioned my casualties of last year. 2 Tournaisis and one pyle Dutch died of different causes. All 3 not ever being broody.

There’s room for new chicks now if I can free range them a part of the day. But I don’t want more chickens if we have to lock in the chickens in every winter -spring.

We still have a obligation to fence the chickens in. I think its safe to let them free range now because it’s been > 5 weeks they found poultry / wild birds with avian flu near to where I live. But if they trap me I have to pay a fine of € 100.

Yes very good. But also very busy. I've been working really hard on my coop and it's almost finished.
I'm getting the first little pullets this weekend as the seller needs the space, so they will be put up in temporary lodgings while I finish. Meaning I'm gonna build a little improvised door to close off the area underneath the coop so they can stay there for the few more days it'll take me to get everything ready. Then on the 2nd of july I'm picking up the other three pullets.
I might also be adopting two little bantam girls, their owner has fallen on hard times and needs a new loving home for them. But she might also be able to find them a home a little closer to her own place so she can more easily visit them. They're very welcome, but I hope that works out for her, I can imagine it's much nicer to still have them a little closer.
My house is slowly filling up with feedbags, feeders and waterers, toys and snacks (I may have got a little overexcited and bought too many snacks 😅). On the other hand, most of the wood that was piled up in my livingroom is now out in the backyard in the shape of a coop and run, so there's that. 😋

This is how it's looking for now.

I'm incredibly excited and can't wait to welcome my new girls.

Looks really nice!!! I hope it all works out for you!
Just be careful with the snacks. Chickens always act like they have not eaten in days. And then they get too fat. Less or no eggs and it's not healthy for them either.
Good luck with your new hens... do post pictures when they get here!
