Pekin Duck Club!

I brought home 2 new Peking babies today. No idea on sex but they are 10 days old. One is very relaxed once you pick it up and will just lay in your hand and cuddle up while the other will be more bold and wants to almost climb up to your neck and will give Ducky kisses and talk back to you and will run up for attention. My other 3 pekings (12-14 weeks) are not anything like these two. Normal duckling behavior??? I bought them from TSC
@wondernurse sounds to me like someone was paying alot of attention to you new ducklings. if they were at TSC for 10 days some one there may have been loving up on them to make them so tame. Congrats on your 2 sweeties. and Welcome to BYC

This may sound strange but I feel like over the winter my lukewarm relationship with my ducks has turned cold. They were never cuddly but would tolerate my presence but now my female acts very nervous around me. If my male even comes close to me she freaks out quacking up a storm until he backs away from me. Which is odd because it used to be the other way around, he wouldn't let her come near me. If I do pick her up she puffs her body up and gets really stiff. Last summer she new when I got home and would quack and quack as if to say hi and now nothing. We live in NW Ohio so I wasn't able to go out and sit with them like I did in the spring and summer. Is it possible I've become like a stranger to them? Is it possible to rebuild the bond with them? I'm a little worried.

Just do like you did last summer spend as much time outside with them bring treats along. i am working on my Runners and Buffs. After the Muscovy's, chickens and geese go to bed of an evening I go get a cup of meal worms and sit out in the yard with these scardy cats, I start by putting the worms right at my feet and they are getting use to coming close now I can even put some in my hand and one of my Runners will come and take them from Me that is a huge accomplishment. Since they were not raised by me but a Muscovy. There are still a few that stand back and aren't brave enough to come by my feet but I will keep working on it. So just get reacquainted with them and hopefully they will be eating out of your hand too.
