Pekin Duck Club!

I have an idea take them inside and put each one on your scale to see their weightslol.  Because there is weights for reg and jumbo.. They all look to be  pretty good size girls, so cute.

What are the weight classifications for regular and jumbo??

I have questions to my fellow Peking duck lovers. I recently got two Pekin ducklings. I just noticed the other night that they have black markings on their feet and I don't know if I should be worried. I took some pictures so if you know anything please tell me!

It's hard to tell in the picture. It could just be calluses. What are you keeping them on? (E.g straw, hay, etc?) Keep an eye on them make sure it doesn't start swelling or turn into bumble foot. That's not a fun experience for any of us!

How's his legs? it's important not to let them get over weight because it can cause leg problems. Might need to cut back on treats a little.  lol

He doesn't seem to have any leg problems. He is in good health all the way around as far as I can tell. He is just a BIG boy. I have however cut back a lot on the catfood w/ him & Flossy. I didn't even realize he was a jumbo until the other day when we got to talking about the size difference between he & Floss. I'll of course now keep more of an eye on him. But for now all is well & hopefully it stays this way for a while!! (Goodness! for a bit there we couldn't catch a break!

I am keeping them on wood shavings for the moment. This is my first time having ducks.

The should be ok, however if they get a splinter or sticky in their feet it usually causes bumble foot. You can put some triple antibiotic ointment on the spots & just keep an eye on them, it will probably take care of itself, but at the first sign of swelling or limping soak the foot/feet in Epsom Salt & warm water.
