Pekin Duck Club!

So this morning I found an egg in the pond.. and it was soft so didnt think much of it, this afternoon dad found an egg not in the pond but it was also soft. Is thatcjust because it was just recently laid or is stella not getting enough of something in her diet?

Could be both, sometimes start of lay, they can be soft... whether that be newly laying or new to the year(as in season) that said feed, what are they getting and is their oyster shell available? i don't use layer here as i have drakes so always stick with a feed with a min of 1% cal and put free choice oyster shell out.

Also here are some more photos of them enjoying the rain

And some eggs! The big one was the size of my Palm and had 2 yolks

They look so content! and my gosh, grass! i have no idea what that is anymore..

. I bought a larger tub at Tractor Supply that the chick waterer fit nicely in, just a bit larger than the base but about 3" deeper. Making the water deep enough for my girls to dunk there whole heads in but they can't swim in. Was a cheap and easy fix.

Generally they get daily some duck mix that I for from the pet store but im not sure of the nutrition value it just says adult duck mix.. as well as a bit of fruit and veg. But I do have a bowl of shell grit that has oysters shells in it for them to eat freely

Speaking of water... I've given up on our ducks using our stock tank so I'm looking to get a kiddie pool from Wal Mart. How high from the ground into the water is safe for a duck to step? From the water to the ground? I've seen some pools with steps leading to the water but am wondering if folks use anything on the inside to assist with them getting out of the water? Thanks for any advice.
