Hey, are your Pekins friendly???
And if so, how did you get them to be that way? I'm bringing mine to the fair this year and they definitely need some work...

Any tips/suggestions/ideas would be MUCH appreciated!

Peas! And soft words and cuddles . I have 3 adult pekins and 2 littlest only one is a Pekin the other is a khaki Campbell . . Peas help everything! Haha

@Miss Lydia im not sure it just says adult duck feed and the shell grit just says shell grit. I feel really bad almost like a bad mum luckily tomorrow is my day off I can look for better quality feed. If I can't find oyster shell grit can I just make my own? (Mum loves oysters)
Also the calcium stuff would that be found at a pet store?

SI This was Si he was my best bud. One day my mother found him without a mark on him. WORST DAY EVER! Since then I now have a 4-5 week old Pekin named Bubbles. He is doing GREAT! BUBBLES

Peas If only I had known this yonks ago!! My ducks are stil very very odd about us (we found them abandoned in their later stages of ducklinghood)

You are not a bad duck mum, your feed is most likely fine, I can't get duck feed at all, I have had soft shelled eggs from my chooks and some of my ducks so it's something that happens, if your mom likes oysters I don't see why you couldn't crush up the shells and offer them to her, You maybe able to find the calcium gluconate at some feeds stores not sure since your in a different country, here I have to order on line, I did find Coral cal. at the health food store. also chopped kale has calcium in it if they like greens.

Does the feed give a break down of levels? i know if i put my ducks on a feed with less than 1% CAL my eggs go soft...

I'd say the best way to get your little ducklings to open their hearts is straight through their stomach. My ducks personally love bean sprouts and cherry tomatoes, though since I'm also a fan of them I would only give them some as a small treat every now and than during or after meals. Its so adorable how they completely follow me after waiting for me patiently to lower my hands with food again!

Oh and salutations people on this thread, I'm a sort-ish new first time duck owner, I currently own two lovely pekins who are about 6 weeks old and have had them from the day they were four. Their sex is currently a mystery to me at the time being but I'm excited to find out.

The left one with the pink bill is Shion and the one on the right is Yura. This was taken last week so they're still quite golden in this picture though their body was almost completely white.

And just an odd question, but it bothers me a bit about how Shion's bill is still pink even till today whilst Yura's orange, is that normal? Because I heard that there was little variation as they are mainly different tones of orange but as Yura's become more orange, Shion's become more pink and not exactly the fleshy pink colour they had when little. Could he be a mix breed perhaps?

Love their pink bills!! Mine have yellow and when I put my hand in like a fist and have meal worms in it, they stick their whole beak in my hand and tickle the heck out of it!! lol Every time I reach in now, they run over anything in their path, to get to me!! Lovin my babies!!
