Hello!
I'm sorry to intrude, but I have a dilemma with my six-seven week old Pekin duck. I don't know what Doddle's [the duck] gender is but Doddle is becoming progressively aggressive, and is rubbing off on my new Blue Swede who used to be super lovey. I don't want to get rid of Doddle, but I have young kids around my animals, and he is a danger because he bites and tries to attack you.
Thanks!

Hi my two pekins are free range, they both made nests in my neighbors bushes. One hatched 13 babies the other wasn't consistent with sitting on them. I noticed her leaving the nest for long periods at a time. Once the other ducks eggs hatched she decided to go back to her nest and has been sitting on them full time again. I assumed her eggs would not hatch after she left them so I'm not sure what to do know. Should we take the eggs away? This is the first time I've had nests. We did check one about 2 weeks ago and nothing was formed inside. Would a duck know that her eggs are not going to hatch? Haven't been able to check recently as she's always sitting on them. :/

Hey all at what age do you find that the drakes get the curly tail feathers ??? My two were sexed at a week old by a friend who is an area poultry expert but right now that both seem to be hens and I can't really tell by their voices any thoughts

All you can do right now is wait and see what happens as duck eggs take about 29 days to hatch. Or, when you see her leaving the nest to eat and a shirt swim rush in and check then. Nothing else you can do at this point.

After their first molt you should see the drake feather come up. That usually happens when they're about 5-6 months of age. But by then you can definitely already tell by the voice!

My duck has been taking eggs out of her nest. some of the eggs were not fertile and some seemed to be under developed. Somehow she knows. She is due to hatch in a week.

Came across the Peking duck club and figured I'd share my ducks! Pecker is the male and Daisy is the female. They decided to dog a mud puddle in the yard after it rained!
