Hi! I am a new Pekin duck owner. We got 2 ducklings at our local feed store this weekend. They are so cute, but I'm clueless here. I have them on chick feed, do I need to supplement their diet with something else? We also have 14 baby chicks and are hoping they will all get along, but I have them separate right now because the chicks have medicated food. Any advice?

In addition to the sticky that MissLydia posted, I just wanted to add a couple things. Most of us have found that they we have to lower their heat or completely go off the heat a lot sooner than chicks. If you see them start panting, that's your clue to get rid of some of that heat.
Also, the niacin is VERY important but I noticed the sticky doesn't specify which kind. Do not use niacin tablets/capsules that say "time-release", "no-flush", or "flush-free". Sometimes you have to go to a health food store to find regular niacin. I found it was easiest to put in the water on a daily basis. I would just have a gallon jug by their brooder and as it emptied, I would just make another batch.
As for getting along, my ducks and chickens free-range together now that they are older and pretty much stay out of each other's business - but when they were little, they picked on each other too much for my liking, so I ended up separating them. I also felt their needs were somewhat different so it was easier for me to take care of them in separate brooders and now in separate runs. However, a lot of people raise them together just fine, so it's just a matter of preference.
Congrats on the new babies! Share pictures when you can.

U don't want to feet duckling medicated feed. 50% of people will say it'll b fine te other 50% will say otherwise. Best off on all purpose feed or duckling feed. U can get electro lights n probiotics at te feed store to give them a little boost. Water their food down they don't like it dry! Lol. And generally they won't get along w chickens. But, my 2 adults don't mind them but they roam the property

I don't know how many of us keep our little ones in the house but I do, and all though I am diaper training there is still a lot of poo to pick up every day. I have figured out a little trick to picking it up virtually spot free. If you put some toilet paper over it and leave it there for at least 5 minutes the poo will soak UP in to the toilet paper instead of the carpet and the poo will practically stick to the tissue. It doesn't work with all poos, like the runny ones or the dirt ones after being outside but for the majority of them it really works and saves some time cleaning too.

I never tried giving my ducks banana's, mine love apples, potato peelings, lettuce, cheerios, tomatoes. That's all I can think of right now, I threw out pop corn kernels and they ate them.
