Yes they had been in a sale crate all day without food or water and very cold. This photo was right after they were purchased and then I got them water and food and warmth and they felt better.

I got my from a farm clearace at 20 weeks old. Currently they are fed on purina flock feed ( green bag), chopped kale, chopped veggie scrape from when I cook. a bowl of water is always needed since they take their food to water to eat. Water will get muddy but they didn't seem to mind. They also bath in the same bowl of water. Currently the female lays egg almost everyday. The male is very protective of her. From what I've learned from reading book on how to raise duck as pet they won't lay egg asexually like chicken would. But I am only a hobby farmer with backyard flock so I am still learning too.
So Pekins don't lay in a flock of females? That's interesting I've only ever had a duck and a drake so I wouldn't know. I also recently brought a 3-4 month old Muscovy duck to keep my drake happy. Pekins seem to be impossible to find in my area so I think I may have to go else where to either find another female which I'm considering as I don't want my ducks line over populating and inbreeding. I have sold a few ducklings lately. Some piccies of my past ducklings. I have become very attached to some especially when they imprint on me.

Ducks are not meant to be on a 100% pasture but more with woodland/grassland type setting. We encourage them to use their built nests for their eggs which always doesn't seem to happen. We are experimenting with different methods and rotations currently to keep them out and let them lay only when they need.
Ducks need to be locked away at night to protect them from predators of all kinds such as raccoons, skunks, wild and neighborhood dogs, unless you have a livestock guardian dog on full time duty.

Our ducks are supplemented with a nutritionally balanced custom organic feed with NO corn, and NO GMOs and NO animal products. They are supplemented with various vegetables from our garden, as well as dug up worms for an occasional treat.
From the minute they hatch they are bonded with vocal encouragement and interaction. We believe that properly cared for and socialized ducklings make happier and easier going ducks. This and better understanding of your ducks needs and likes will translate to more consistent heavy egg production.

Keep them in a small area so they can get back to a warm, protected area if they need. If the weather is not warm, you may need to keep them confined until they are six to seven weeks of age. The best thing is to watch them. If they appear cold or huddle together, bring them back inside.

hmmm definitely need to get more females for my drake. Though he does seem very paired with my female Pekin.

They are cuties. All those guys are sold and (hopefully) much bigger lol. I've got four new little guys now, two are leaving tomorrow and another four eggs in the incubator which are looking healthy and should hatch early next month.

I have baby ducks, a bit older than 1 week now and they love swimming but make such a mess everywhere as soon as their out of the box. We have had many cat/fox related problems before but we have fixed the fences and upgraded their pen/coop but when should we send them outside for good and know they will be safe? We have chickens and they don't mind baby duck/chickens so should I send them out there for a night when their a bit older? Plz help I don't want to lose these ones.
they are so sweet looking and very adorable.Hello Folks! Yesterday at Poultry Congress I got these two Pekin Hens! They were marked as Runners but are obviously Pekins from what I can tell! I am trying to make them feel at home and get them to eat, so advice is appreciated! These are my first ever ducks, although I have 45+ chickens and two sheep! They are currently being quarantined in a large brooder with a water bowl, layer pellets in a bowl, and lots of straw!
They are very adorable for sure! We love them to bits! Here they are swimming this morning!
