Pekin Duck Club!

Thanks, I'll have to watch my biggest male. He's the boss, but still doesn't mess with my chickens, weirdly.
It doesn't always have to be the biggest male that is the biggest problem. Since one of my Khaki Cambell drakes is in control of all the hens, the other has set his sights on the larger ladies. He has been regularly harassing hens 3 times his size. My Saxony hen decided he was being rude and put him down pretty quickly after she figured out what he was trying to do. She grabbed hold of him, whipped him around, and mounted him to dominate him. He hasn't bothered her since, but he has not stopped harassing the Pekin girls, who are much younger and less experienced. They have been spending a lot of time running from him, and if he gets a hold of one, dragging him around the yard. I'm going to have to do something with him if they don't learn to put him in his place... Interestingly, he has no interest in the muscovy girls - he has very particular tastes apparently...

I'll watch them more closely later. And, wow is that Cambell drake the boss!

oh my word, this is so fascinating. All of it. Kinda violent these birds are. Even my 13 gram hen rips into her cage mate Jibby to stop him from mating her and feathers go everywhere. Beaks and bills are weapons.

How would you identify one Pekin duck from another. To me they all look the same, I don't know what to look for to set them apart. Planning to add 2-3 Pekin ducks to my flock. Currently have Pomeranian Geese and they have patterns on the neck that I can set them apart.

You would be surprised - I have mine marked with leg bands, but I never use them. I recognize them all by their faces and bodies. They all look very different, and there is usually at least one feature that identifies them. Their personalities are all very different as well. Until you get to know them, band them. In a month or less, you won't need the bands.

my duck has wry neck, been on treatment for 3 days and this is what it looks like now, he does straighten it here and there, does it look like it's getting better or should I give up?

poor little sweetie. Ask Amiga, Miss Lydia or LadyHawkeAvery directly. All very kind and knowledgeable duck lovers.

Please do not give up. Three days, already improved . . . mercy, that little duck, I feel, is going to be okay . . . but needs a little more time and treatment. Like expect it to take some weeks. Did you read about Bentley?

Could you remind me what treatment you are using? Thanks!
