Pekin Duck Club!

Just a pic of my snuggle bug Quincy, a Rouen drake. Loves (still) to sit on my shoulder and try to hide under my hair!
Eeeeeeeee. He is so cute. I love that he's on your shoulder. His face is so sweet. If I had a hold of him I'd kiss that pom on top of his head.

If you touch our kids from the crop up, they get super shaky. Especially when they are on your lap, getting a sun bath (I just came in from cuddle time. Heehee!).
Do they preen you while they are doing it? The shaking had me worried when they first started it, but they had "happy eyes" and they were super beaky at the same time, so we have narrowed it down to almost like a duck purr.
I love the happy eyes expression. Sweet duck birds. Yes they do preen while holding them. one time when Montgomery the Welsh hopped into my lap she started in on my ears and studs then moved to my glasses. It was funny.

I love it! The preening with mine gets a little out of control sometimes. I kiss their bills and they sometimes have a habit of going for my lip or nose. Even gave me a nice big spot on my bottom lip once. Its just a love bite though, and I cant be mad at that.

Alright friends! We are officially starting the building of our coop and I was wondering: does anybody have Jumbo's? Ours are not yet full grown and I was wondering how tall they stand. Is it much taller than a normal Pekin or is it the same, just more body mass? My mother had a standard pekin and she stood about knee high. My kids are only 5 weeks now, and they are already that height. Gosh they grow up so fast..

Oh, definitely not with the lip biting. I have occasions where I hold my finches and they get kissed and once in a while one will bite my lip and it does hurt but I can't blame the little birdie.

I'm sorry to announce my injured one did not survive :( but I still have the healthy babies that are looking great each day and are even starting to get their teenage feathers! So exciting to watch!

Oh, sad to hear that. I am sorry. But glad the teens are coming along nicely.
