. Yes my handsome boy is sleeping. Omg he must have a heavy head.
What a sweetheart he is. That photo is a classic.

Well JoJo won't eat much duck feed but, he's eating a lot of other things so he's eating, drinking, and all that. I don't think he will fall I'll as Charlie did so, his physical health is good as far as I can tell. Yet mentally and emotionally, not so much. Every so often, he looks like his head is shaking very bad, I pet him to try to soothe him and he feels exactly like a cat does when they purr so hard that they tremble, that's exactly what it seems like yet, he dives at me to bite me. He has never done this. I mean my toddler would stick her fingers in Charlie's mouth and she would nibble and Ryleigh would laugh and do it over and over. She tries to do it to JoJo and he bites hard,, I know hes hurting her bc she's tried to kick him and throw things at him. I stop her but still, I'm scolding my baby for trying to fight back when my duck is biting. Oh my... Point being, he's always been a little shy but he's turning vicious. But the majority of the time he lets use kiss him and pet him, until he gets in his mood. Will this continue to get worse? I just don't know what to think about the whole ordeal

I have seen this in drakes that lose their mates. It may be grief. Or just wanting to be alone. Life has dealt him an awful blow, and I think that like some people get bitter, he may be angry at the loss.

So I have a pekin and golden hybrid 300 from Metzer hatched May 04 2015. So almost 4 months old.
What age do pekins start to lay (and the golden 300 if anyone knows)
I know daylight hours are gettin shorter too. Not sure if that would delay another month or not.
How well do they pay during the winter?
Thanks so much. I Can't wait for them to start laying!

OH, no worry JLynns, I understand.  I actually have been sporadic on here lately.  My little precious finches and myself are well, thank you.  I'd love to see the pictures of your winged boys.  I have heard of drakes being nuts during mating season when their hormones are crazy.  How's he towards Hazel.  Is she receptive?  Flying up into your face like that is very startling.  And Pekins are not little birds.  Wow.  Did he squawk?  I am glad nobody got hurt.  Amykins, who owns Wobbles, the male call, would tell stories of his hormonal rages.  He'd attack her feet, hands, arms and leave marks.  They can't help it and I guess it is all put there so they can proliferate.

Haha.  You had a bird sitter.  Awesome.  It was probably a relief having a trusted person there with them so that you wouldn't have to worry.  I got to bird sit my coworker's ducks a few years ago when he and his family went out of town and I loved it.

How are the geese doing?
@Julie Bird here's a picture of one of the boys. It's hard to get good pictures of them together... :)

Henry is officially a hormonal drake. He attacked and bit my feet yesterday when I went into his pen. After pushing him back gently a few times and him coming back at me, I decided he has given me the opportunity to pick him up. (Something I never do...) I grabbed him and held him a few minutes. He sat there calmly and let me hold and pet him. :) He didn't attack my feet after that either. He's a stinker!
