Pekin Duck Club!

:hugs        So sorry for your loss!  Can you get Nibbles a few friends?  Ducks are very social, flock birds and do best with more of their own kind.  Meanwhile, an unbreakable mirror and something soft to cuddle with, like a stuffed animal, may help a bit.

Thank you. I'm looking for him some buddies but it's hard to find just hens. I'm researching an all male flock, maybe getting some unwanted drakes from a rescue and giving them a second chance while getting Nibbs some buddies. Until then I'll be sure to get him a mirror and stuffed animals. I may have to order an unbreakable mirror online. He seems happier when I let him lay on the couch and watch Dog the Bounty Hunter of all things. He gripes at me when I change the channel lol

HA thats what I am doing right now! And trying to get Howard to take his pill. After sticking in 5 beans I think he finally swallowed it lol

I'm sad to report that my Nibbles isn't doing too well. His mate unexpectedly passed away and we're both taking it hard. Any tips on how to make him feel better? He looks so sad and keeps looking around trying to find her

@duckies1230 is going through a similar time… perhaps she can share how things are going.

Its been almost a week and a half since my drake lost his mate. He started eating good again. And i have him upstairs with the family. He doesnt like to be mrssed with too much. When i take him outside he looks around for his girl still and all he does is look in the mirror all day. Its sad. He wants nothing to do eith stuffed animals. As soon as he gets his diaper i hope it gets better and i will get him friends in the spring but its not time yet.

As your finding out adult ducks don't really like to be held and drakes can be bitey so I wouldn't let your lil one be too close. It's just the way they are not anything out of the ordinary for drakes. Of course he is lonely so that has to be taken into consideration too. Once you get settled and spring comes round next year he'll have friends again and all will be well. but main thing now is making sure any interaction he has with any one is positive which means if he begins to start biting he needs to be put up where he cannot do it. Drakes especially starting into puberty can be this way. it's how they act towards their females.Jo Jo is loved and your doing all you can for him.
