Thanks!
I'm still struggling with the water/food issue. They run out of water really quickly while still creating a huge mess. With my nipple solution I know they won't die of thirst. Right now I leave both the nipple waterer there all the time, then clean water in the purple device at night (after feeding) and in the morning (after feeding).
I'm concerned if I leave food in their home they might run out of the water they can put their bills in. Right now they can only eat in the morning, around 5:30pm and when I put my chicks to sleep ~ 9:00pm. Three feedings a day, is it enough? I know some people say food should be available all the time for ducklings.
Our ducks & chickens had access to food & water 24/7 in the brooder. Now that they are outside and almost 6 months old I keep the food & water out of the coop. This winter when their waterer will need to be in the coop I will have it setting in a stand up shower piece for 1) attempt to keep the bedding dry & 2) keep the floor from rotting.
