Pekin Duck Club!

He's in an enclosed run normally, but I've been letting him range with the chickens (while supervised) since Quacks passed away. I don't think there's anything he could get into.. Only thing I can think of is the chicken wire. Here's another pic:

Hi everyone! Nibbles has some spots on his bill I'm worried about. Does anyone know what this is? I thought it was just where he'd banged it on something but more have appeared.

I am by no means a duck expert but I will throw this out anyway. 2 years ago my buddy bought a female Pekin duckling. Her bill was spotless and as she matured it became duller and increasingly freckled. To this day she is a very large, loud egg laying and healthy adorable squeezable duck. Hopefully, unless yours is going thru something else, that's all that's happening. Consider contacting WVduckchick. Several months ago her young duck developed freckles all over his bill and he's a thriving beauty now. His name is Chibs and he is very cute.

Here's the other pics! I'm glad JoJo aka Prince Charming can still be genuinely happy at times! I know he's still hurting from his loss
Do you have any idea what this does to me? He is beyond cute all fluffers up in that pool. He is having fun. I want to kiss his puffy face.

Sorry, I can't seem to find the old thread where I saw something very similar to his. I would bet it could be stress related, but can't say for sure.

Let's tag some others that might know more:

I agree you should change the food. That looks very suspicious of a nutritional issue. Unless it's just the lighting in the pic, his bill is much paler than what I'd hope to see on a healthy Pekin. Just as a basis for comparison, you can look at the pics from duckies1230 and the one Deb uses for her avatar. They have very bright orange bills, and that's what you want to see.

I'd also supplement the feed with some treats that are high in xanthophylls. As far as that goes with things ducks are likely to eat, I'd try leafy greens other than spinach, peas, bell peppers, carrots, corn and squash. You want to go easy on the corn this time of year or you may end up with a very chubby drake.

I would also, just a a precaution, wash his bill off with a soft cloth and some warm water, then put a thin film of Neosporin without pain reliever on it. It would be best to apply the Neosporin with a qtip so you can kind of paint it over the whole bill and still avoid getting it in his nares (nostrils).

We got tired of the smell and how messy our pekin pair was. So yesterday they joined the others on grandpa's pond. My pekin hen was the one being mean! Lol. I guess that my drake is just nice because he babied m uscovy ducklings when he was young and I thought he was female.
