Pekin Duck Club!

I read back over the past few posts and see where the misunderstanding might have been. Miss Lydia and I were both talking about flying ducks. Most domestic ducks other than Bantams and Muscovy don't really fly, so you probably wouldn't find them perching somewhere even if they weren't crated.

No no, its not that. That's why I'm trying to find info on the Muscovy female from owners bc the idea of her flying around the house ain't something I'm too fond of...lol...i posted on show off your house ducks hoping to find some answers. I apologize if I sounded offensive. Trust me hun, it wasn't you at all!

No offense taken. I was thinking I came across the wrong way. Maybe you can clip Muscovy wings like you can with others to stop them from getting much lift. I don't know enough about them to say.

I don't know what your financial situation is and don't need to, but if you have the means to do it, have you considered saying, "Okay, you'll take that for the pair/trio? What if I give you the same for just one and you can still have the others?" Some sellers would do that. I wouldn't, but some would.

to you you!

My other 3ducks looked so sad this evening and were very quiet. Since Ezmarelda (she's the one who died) was the leader of the group, I think the others are trying to figure out who's gonna be the leader now. the owner of the dog appoligized and offered to pay for a replacement. I just hope the others will be okay.

I am so, so sorry. It sounds like you have a nice neighbor. Unless you want a monetary settlement from her, perhaps you can tell her a pet can't be replaced with money, and that all you need from her is absolute assurance that she will do whatever is necessary to keep her dog off your property, anywhere on your property, in the future. I think that's completely reasonable.

I really am so empathetic. I know from experience (thank God not exactly the same one) that it's very distressing to the rest of the flock.

That was what I was wondering about. The lady I'm getting them from says they really don't fly a lot but they like to perch on things. The more I've been thinking about it the more I'm thinking maybe Muscovy s are not what I should get. I let JoJo run freely outside, no worries, that wouldn't work with them, would, it? And his pen inside, well I say his room, isn't closed in, he isn't caged in at all, he could wander the whole house at any time but he don't. He's such a good boy! My husband would freak if he woke IP in the morning and one duck was on the counter, the other on the kitchen table, and poo everywhere!!!!:gig. Ahhh! Decisions, decisions! It I want them so bad, they are so beautiful! I would email u pics bc I can't transfer them on here but I can forward the email. What's your opinion? What should I do? Get them, or keep searching?
Hilarious. Funny. Great post about Muscovies perched all over your kitchen. Gad, that made me laugh.

I am sorry your other ducks are sad. Now I am sad for them. I just read this after reading duckies1230's funny post about ducks in her kitchen and my mood changed. Oh, the emotional ups and downs of having sweet pets and then the losses.

That is awful poor ducks and you! I know it's hard when you've neighbours living close but they had better make sure that dog can't get out again!0
