Pekin Duck Club!

Lily's feet had poo caked on them. I got a lot off but it looks calloused on her feet. Its not bumble foot but I think it could have turned into it. The difference between an outside farm duck and pampered indoor duck is much more noticeable than I ever imagined

I love the name Lily. From what you described, it doesn't sound like she was in the horrible conditions I've heard with some, but she wasn't in the wonderful environment you're going to give them even if you move and they're partly outdoor ducks. Lily is going to be very happy once she gets used to being a pampered little lady.

Many congratulations again!

Thank you my dear. I don't for a second think she had a bad life. She will just have things different now. I was thinking of maybe scrubbing her feet with a soft toothbrush but I don't want to make them raw. Maybe I should let them go. And being in the yard and pool, etc. Not in poo and dirt/mud it will eventually come off itself. I'll see how it goes. Jojo started bobbing his head at her, I thought I read somewhere its like a mating call. Maybe I'm delirious.. Lol... How can I tell if he's in mating mode? Well besides him just jumping on her...

The head bobbing is a pretty sure thing. And time swimming ought to take care of her feet.

Head bobbing is an introduction thing that even females will do with one another. In this case. it's probably what Amiga said where JoJo is saying, "I can't help noticing you're a girl duck and I was wondering if you might want to come back to my place for dinner and stuff." He might be thinking more about stuff than about dinner.

There's no problem washing her feet if you want to do that, and probably no problem if you don't. I would simply because that's me. You can let her swim for a bit to soften up any grime, then use a child's soft toothbrush to brush around on her feet and legs and under her toenails. You're not going to injure her if you choose to do that. Some show people wash and clean their ducks to what I consider extremes, but the ducks never seem to be any worse for the wear. You really have to make them shine if you're taking them to a show.

OK I promise I'll stop with the pics for awhile. It's just no one else understands and all of you relate! :hugs I love you girls!!! Anyhow, Lily layed an egg sometime between 5 and 6:40 am! Oh my, my first egg, I'm so excited. I accidentally dropped it and it cracked but not hard enough to make it leak. But ummmm What do I do with it????

We eat our Runners' eggs. We cook them any number of ways.

Please don't stop with the pics. Keep them coming. This is fun. They look as though they have really bonded. I love it. So cute x 2.
