Well if you end up not having one, I bet you'd not have much trouble finding a drake for your girls.Hopefully I have 1 drake.
Id like info about pekin ducks.lots of info about ducklings but very little about older ducks. My ducks are about 6 months old and are two drakes, curled tails.I've read drakes are quiet. Mine chatter all the time.what can i use for disenfecting their surroundings. I've been using vinegar but that doesn't seem to be helping.also the only feed in my area is growth/finisher.all other is for laying hens.please any and akl info for keeping my ducks safe and happy.
Hopefully I have 1 drake.

you crack it open and look for the bulls eye only way to know with out cracking is to incubate for at least 5 days.
And your drake if you have one may just not have the curl yet still pretty young. I'd say in the next month you'd see it if you have a drake but those who have Pekins could say more i only have Muscovy and they don't get the curl or the voice since they don't actually quack lolAll I can do is hope either way. Lol
I don't mean to sound stupid but I know nothing about eggs. What is the bulls eye? And she's noit sitting on the eggs, do I have to keep them warm I mean obviously I won't put them in a fridge if they could be fertile? But what do I do? Thupis part is brand new to me
Yes give her more straw let her make the nest the way she wants too. and just because she is in the nest box doesn't mean she is ready to brood if you are ready for ducklings then leave all her next eggs and see what happens either she'll go broody when she feels she has enough or she won't it will be up to her. More than likely she will be ready to go outside when your ready to take them out.Oh my, so I was on here earlier reading about Pekins going broody bc I remember reading before that they don't and if they do its rare. Well JoJo was being noisy so I went down to check on my babies and lily was in the one straw box and looks like she built a nest and there's an egg in it. I think she needs more straw bc the bottom of the nest is bare. Should I add more straw? Or build it myself. Put yesterdays egg back? Can I still take lily and JoJo outside during the day? Or what do I do? I'm so happy!!!![]()
My two are very messy, i spot clean the litter in the pen twice daily, and total change weekly. I wash down with hot vinegar water too. Feed and water sit on a flexible plastic water heater tray. I bought it after i was fed up with soaked bedding daily. It gas made a big diffence! I just wipe it out each morning.
