Pekin Duck Club!

If I am going to use the eggs right them for baking or cooking I wash them under cold water to get the dirt and poop off. I use a wash cloth if extremely dirty. give them a good scrub.

I wipe off the eggs with a dry rag if they've got anything on them, then right before using them I rinse them well with cold water and wipe them off.
thank you both :)
Is it odd that they smell when they're wet?

I have no idea why. Doesn't affect the taste though, thankfully

Charlie never layed an egg and they never mated. I think they were still too young. And JoJo and lily haven't been mating too much lately from what I can see. They only mate in the tub or outside in the pool. They haven't been out too much lately bc its been pouring but, yesterday when they were out in their pool and new neighbors came to see them, JoJo of course had to give them a show.
The reason I was considering separating them is bc I thought JoJo was breaking open her eggs. I mean, I've only had Lily for almost 2 wks. Someone said it could take a week or more to see fertile eggs so not to worry.
And with the spiders, I wanted to know if they could hurt them at all. By the ducks eating them or being bit by them.
Ryleigh just woke up, I'm finishing my coffee then me and her are going to take care of the ducks this morning. I'm running a little behind schedule this morning!
You are funny about JoJo putting on a show for the neighbors.

I'm sorry, duckies, but was there anything here you didn't get an answer for? I was away for a good while The only thing I can see in scanning this is about spiders. Yes, spiders can hurt them. A lot of things can hurt them, but biting and stinging insects don't affect ducks as much as they do some animals that have more exposed skin that's easily pierced by a bite or sting. They can get tiny parasites, but I think I remember that you already knew that. They can be stung by bees, wasps, etc.,which will be mostly on their legs if you even know it happened. Even a non-venomous insect like a spider can still cause an irritation.

On a brighter note, most of this isn't common and is something that can be dealt with in the case it happens, and with no long-term effects to the duck. I don't want you to stress yourself out over ducks with a human baby on the way.

I suspect it's botulism, or some other toxin. It could also be an advanced infection. If it came on quickly, it is likely something toxic.

If it is botulism, you don't have much time to help her out. You can try a flush, I would definitely do the charcoal slurry (after the flush), and lots and lots of fresh water for her to drink.

A vet would be best.
