Pekin Duck Club!

...more of my 2 youngest Pekins.

Their pen will be a work in progress for quite some time. Going to keep making it bigger and better as I find a dime or two and gather rocks, logs, etc....

When can I start giving Sam-I-Am treats and what types of treats should I start with?
I started spoiling my two by about two weeks old. Dried mealworms are their favorite. I use happy hen treats from tsc. But alot of folks here give peas from the freezer and thaw them out. I haven't tried that yet.

I see your pools are sunk into the ground. Do you have anything in rhem to help them get out easier? Mine can't seem to get in and out yet.

So it is confirmed, Peepers aka "Clarice" is not Clarice at all.... We have Peepers aka Howard.

Khaki and Pekin babies? Has anyone seen any or had any? lol... is it possible? Oh dear! Collecting eggs all day long will be my duty. My mom wants to have one though... if they do mate.

They got to swim in their big pool today!

Don't feel bad chicory-do
I have three ducklings (3 weeks old) I have handled them, bathed them, sung to them, cuddled them and fed them treats and they still run from me. They at least start chirping when they hear my voice now.

I put them in the outdoor pen because I am afraid that if they are loose they will keep running.
LOL
Ungrateful things!! Love them anyway. LOL

So is it too early to try and guess Aflac's sex?

My Pekin is only 4 weeks old and we know he is a male. I sex my ducks by the voice way. By 3 weeks old we new my Khaki (who is now 8wks) was a female because she had a demanding loud quack, where as male ducks have a very soft, raspy quack.

Peepers (Howard) has a very very very very awful raspy and very quiet/low quack.

I honestly haven't had a male before so I don't know at what age a drake feather comes in.
