Pekin Duck Club!

Usually it can take a little while for them to pull out of the shell. Some take minutes some take days. They say don't touch membrane. The darker the memrain is and the texture it is old wrinkled shriveled ect is something to do with age of egg or humidity and temperature issues.

If she can turn then she can peck a different part of the egg to get out. But that blood spot may make things more complicated for you and her. If she pecks it it may bleed worse or if you break her out. I have done it with chicken eggs but never a duck egg. So wait for the people with a little more experience before you attempt at your first duck c section at last resort.

I put her in the bator 2/26/16 at 3am so today is 3/24/16 at 1am, she is on day 27. I should of put her in lockdown yesterday. that is why she is malpositioned, she has been upright in the egg turner.
the temp in the bator is 97-98 degrees. she is not bleeding any more, she bled when i tried to peel the membrane back. it has stopped.
the membrane is getting dark in color, however
She should have gone into lockdown already. The humidity is to low. Get that up to about 60/65. Come lock down she should be laying flat, not in an upright position.

The temp in the bator is 97-98, the humidity is about 40% (on my hygrometer/thermometer unit) on the bator it reads 50%, it did read 60%, but i opened the lid. No fan, she is in a still air bator. and my air circ fan bator is full of eggs, i use the still air bator to lockdown eggs in.
What else can i tell you?
Still bators should have a temp of 101-102

I take that back, the membrane is not dark it is yellow in some areas and white in others areas

The temp in the room is 72 and the humidity in the room (the bators are in) is 32%.
I am watching her and i can see her beak, she is not pushing on the shell, but her beak is opening and closing in a quivering mostion, but she is not pushing against the shell to try and get out.
She's to dry. Opening is closing is a good sign, she's sounds like she is doing the yawning thing and this is good that's how they absorb..No she will not try until you get that humidity up, it's to difficult to keep trying and getting no wheres because she's drying up.. Get a spray bottle with warm water, spray her down, not on the stream setting on the spray setting.

Give her a couple of sprays, then raise the temp on the still air bator to 101-102 have the humidity up to about 60-65. If she doesn't make any progress after tonight will have to give her a helping hand. But I think if you do the following corrections, she should be able to do things on her own.

Right now she's shrinking wrapping so her membrane is confining her, bascially squeezing her from allowing her to do what she needs to do. spraying her with some water should help loosen things up.

how can I make my pekins and muscovies not lay eggs in the water?!?!?!?! how do I keep the other ducks from eating the eggs and how do I keep the chickens from eating their eggs??? thanks in advance
