Pekin Duck Club!

Usually it can take a little while for them to pull out of the shell. Some take minutes some take days. They say don't touch membrane. The darker the memrain is and the texture it is old wrinkled shriveled ect is something to do with age of egg or humidity and temperature issues.
her membrane is very rubery consitancy, she has not moved positions, she is in the same spot.

Give her a couple of sprays, then raise the temp on the still air bator to 101-102 have the humidity  up to about 60-65.  If she doesn't make any progress after tonight will have to give her a helping hand.  But I think if you do the following corrections, she should be able to do things on her own.

Right now she's shrinking wrapping so her membrane is confining her, bascially squeezing her from allowing her to do what she needs to do. spraying her with some water should help loosen things up.
OK, thank you, i have sprayed her, again, i was doing it earlier this morning... i turned the heat up and sprayed the papertowels she is sitting on. she is laying on her side in the bator. I can see her rubery membrane has a shiny underside w/veins, is this "shrinkwrap"? I dont think she can move much, at least she has not changed positions, even though i candled her earlier this morn and i could see a tiny bit of her shadow in the AC area, just a little.
i will keep spraying her and keep her moist and raise humidity and temp, like you said.
thanks so much, i appreciate ALL OF YOU LADIES...

Shrink wrap looks like papery membrane brownish color dried out , If your still seeing veins I'd say she has a way to go before hatching.

CyndiD, how is the " Early Bird Duckling" doing this morning?? Any progress? Keep us posted. Linda
@CyndiD
Early Bird Duckling sounds like a name for a game show... i like it. she is in the same spot, im pretty sure she is stuck even though i could see her shadow in the AC (just a tiny bit of her body). like lacrystol said, she is shrinkwraping. i took her out and sprayed her down, turned up the heat and added more water to bottom stray and sprayed all around inside the bator. i have a chicken egg pipping in the same bator also.

What are you up to today? We are having high winds and rain... cold out there. "Somewhere Over The Rainbow, blue birds fly....

She only needs to be sprayed about once or twice a day just until you get that humidity up. Once it's at 60-65 no more spraying necessary.

OK, thanks, I will be patient and let her come out on her own. I will keep an eye on her and get the humidity up to 60-65% and keep her warm and the others in lockdown w/her. thanks

@aprilgantt
 - what type of Niacin did you get?  I use brewers yeast (hard to find at stores so I ordered from Amazon) not activated bread yeast.  I put it in their food since they wear/waste a lot of water.  I put 1 tablespoon in 1 cup of food.  Did the vet say why you need to feed game bird food or for how long?  Please try to post some pics of the duck's leg & any attempted walking?

I'll tag some other members that may have more info & ideas.

I use niacin from GNC and it's the reg kind,not flush free or time release. The didn't really know anything about ducks after they said they see them on the phone!

So I think I knew more than she did! She said she looked it up on her vet website and it said game bird food but it's got 30% protein and that's too much and I read too much may do damage too so don't want do that! I have another vet that actually knows ducks calling me tomorrow and he can order me some Purina duck chow or what he thinks will work better I guess.
