LOL Sounds like my Lucy. The others get her muddy and she'll preen for hours trying to get it off of her. I think a bigger pen will help them. Half will be grass half will be mud.

Hi! I recently acquired 3 ducks..1 a pekin, 1 a buff and 1 a cayuga. I dont know much about ducks so I am learning more all the time. Anyways, my Pekin is HUGE! He trips over his feet all the time, I am so scared he is gonna hurt himself. Is he overweight? Or are they usually pretty heavy ducks? Im scared that he would def be the first one to get eaten if heaven forbid any coyote saw them roaming the yard I never let them out unless I am home and check on them every 5 minutes!

don't know much about weight or anything except pekins are big ducks! Mine gets mistaken for a goose everywhere we go! If he's tripping though there might be something more going on with him. I'm interested to see what others have to say.

He easily trips over his own feed. Do yours do that? It's like he can't pick his feet up all the way.

Average weight is between 8-11 lbs. Did you get him grown or as a duckling???

Mine doesn't trip over her feet but she's also on the smaller size, she weighs around 7lbs. I wonder if giving him niacin will help. Have you posted this concern on the main board? I would if you haven't already

That's my Hedwig. All his mates have left (one flew away, the other was taken by raccoons) so he hangs out with my 2 hens. He is very protective of them- which is nice. We aren't allowed to have chickens or ducks- so he takes the place of a noisy rooster and no one can hear him
He's also a huge A-hole- biting my toes/legs any chance he gets. He must walk between my legs, so I'm constantly tripping/stepping on him and falling and killing myself. But when no one else is around he'll invite himself inside the house and take a nap in my lap <3

Welcome! Hedwig is quite the cutie!!! He also looks like quite the cuddle duck ducky cuddles are the best!!!
