Pekin Duck Club!

Hello everyone!! I am new to BYC and wanted to introduce you all to my new babies! The pictures were taken a little over a week ago, so they look different now. I am so excited that their feathers are coming in and the bigger one of the two has been attempting to quack...too cute! As of now, their names are Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dumb (Hubby's idea!) until we find out their genders. They are the best!

My girls are 9 days old and growing very fast! I can't believe it haha I swear every time I look at them they have grown another inch lol tonight after I got them outta the tub - which I'm pretty sure ima need an upgrade on too- I notice the beginnings of feathers?!?!
Already?! Awwww the lil yellow fluff is so cute
They are growing!

I got these two ducks last Wednesday and I'm not sure what breed they are. Someone told me that they may be Pekins so i thought who better to ask than the pekin duck club.

First of all - Welcome to all the new Pekin Fans today!!

It's hard to tell for sure but it looks like one of yours might very well be a Pekin, but the one with the dark bill is not - maybe a cross with a Pekin, but not a true Pekin. Pekins have orange bills and orange feet and are all yellow when little - obviously all white when grown.

hi im a new comer.i have 4 pekin ducks 2 males 2 females.i have 23 eggs in the nest, can anyone tell me how can i tell if their fertile?i noticed some of them got like a air pocket at the end of them and some of them the yolk moves around when i checked them.this is my first year having duck eggs i just got them last summer so their not a year old yet.how long does it take for duck eggs to hatch?my duck doesn't lay on them only at night and shes laying 2 eggs a night.do they need the heat like a chicken egg?should my duck be laying on them most of the time or does it matter?

First off, welcome.

I'll try to answer you questions as best as possible.

It takes 28+\- days for duck eggs to hatch. If the duck was broody, she'd be sitting all the time. Most likely she's not broody. I would take the eggs outta the nest.

Hi everybody! I am a new duck owner. I have 6 pekins that are 3 weeks old. I absoltly love them! They are so funny! Would like to be added to the club:) I willpost pics later

I'm tying to figure out how old mine are ':) they have most of their white down grown in and are dropping fluffy when we hold them. I feel pin feathers but don't see any "grown up" feathers yet. Wings have little tiny "sickly" looking feathers but are still yellow. I've had them for 2 week. I have one for sure that halfway honks. I'm thinking 4-5weeks maybe?
