Denver, I'm on the list but my ducks aren't but that is because we don't really have names yet...was waiting on knowing the sex first Ill see if i can convince my daughter to give them names that would work for both -ill let you know below is them with my Campbell babies at two weeks

Welcome to all the new Pekin posters today!!!

Awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome times 20 day, today!!!!!....lol. Today was the day I have been waiting for since I bought my new friends. Things were perfect and I got to take them to their pond for the first time! It was a blast! Sorry for the excitement...

....but it was FUN!

Great photos as always!! I can tell you had a great day with those precious Pekins!!

I would love to join and share stories and pics and info and advice. I have 2 peking ducks 1 male and 1 female that we call romeo and juliet my hubby wanted to name them bonnie and clyde and i jus could not do it. But i am going to post phots here in a minute/ the question i have is I have one of each and when do they start laying and i want to breed them but i have nothing but one of the kiddie pools,it is the bigger ones but i heard you have to have a lot of water for them or they will not breed? I

f that is the case i guess i will be digging a small size pond for them to get in if i have to. i only live on a acre and a half but i think i could dig one big enough to get them to do there deed lol. so if someone could give me some insight it would be great. and once again i would love to join i look forward to seeing and hearing from you guys. my pics comming soon This is jus one pic i had on hand. i am going to take sum of them with there 2 pools so you can see if they big enough or not.

My ducks definitely like to mate in their big pool, but I've seen our drake mount them on the ground in their run as well as a little metal tub - so a kiddie pool will be just fine. As for laying, everyone's ducks seem to start at different times, but both my Pekins laid their first egg at 24 weeks. They have been faithfully laying every day for me for the past few weeks.

I love this club I get so much info from this site I am.very new at owning ducklings I have 3 wonderful Peking ducklings I am very worried about one it makes noises all nite and even when it sleeps and if its not snoring is what i like to call it ; its breathing gets very heavy and fast and it looks like it is panting heavly is this normal quackers is her name not it sorry so quackers eats really good drinks tons of water and is very active however I still worry about it

My jumbo pekin did this - we always laughed because it sounded like she was snoring. I found that she just got hotter a lot easier than the others. How old are they? They might be ready for their heat lamp to be raised or removed completely. Ducklings don't need near as much heat as long as chicks do.
