Pekin Duck Club!

Hey all! My pekins are 4 weeks old now (maybe 5,.. I've lost track!) Anyone in the Connecticut area?

So far, out of the 6, I think that 1 is a boy. They are messy and stinky as sin!! They make my chicken coop cleaning a breeze! lol

They are fairly feathered at this point. It being April, there is obviously still a threat of frost. With that said, should I even be considering moving them outdoors? They are in their brooder in the basement and they are very quickly outgrowing it. They seem desperate for some run around time, but to catch them twice to bring them in and out seems to send them into a wild panic. I don't want to keep doing that to them.

Any advice? Also, if there is anyone near me that would like to have my ducks, let me know! I am happy to keep them, but with 4 dogs, 14 chickens, 1 cat, 3 kids under the age of 7, a husband and a full time job, I'm kinda spread thin!!

I wish I was in the Conneticutt area...I'd take them immediately! Anyone in the Knoxville TN area want to get rid of some female ducks? I have a walk in pen to put them in for about three weeks and then I will let them out to roam in my yard and eventually they will incorporate with my other ducks and go to the creek and the pond. We feed all our ducks twice a day. We call them and they come even if they are over on the other side of the pond. Sometimes they'll come if they see our car coming up the road.

So one of my ducklings has started making quacking noises so I'm assuming its a she. My other is still peeping, boy?

Will I have problems with just a duck and drake? I 100% cannot get any other females if it is a drake.

Maybe not you'll just have to keep an eye on your drake if the one is one to make sure when he gets to breeding age he doesn't over breed your duck. For now just enjoy them being ducklings
