Some ducklings eat shavings. Worst case, it lodges in their digestive tract and they die. Don't mean to be scary, but that happens. And many ducklings do fine on shavings. Mine were shaving eaters.
Thank you for the info

Thanks for the replies! I just moved their food outside for now and will put it back in with them at night and will try the ramp thing again once they are bigger. I'm not sure the degree of the ramp but the highest part is about 6in off ground. Plus I have it lined with the rubbery shelf liner for extra traction
Thank you for the info. So, I don't have to worry about the pine oil?
If it is not reeking I would not worry. At the same time, I don't use any shavings that reek of pine. I let it gas off outside before using it in the night pen. I use it when it smells mildly of pine.
She may have a splinter in there. I'd do some soaks in Epson salt water 1 cup to 1 gal of warm water let her stand in the bucket both feet since its easier and just hold on to her try to keep her in at least 5-10 mins each time. After she has soaked use some noesporin or triple antibiotic on the area, and when you can get some colorless iodine[walmart carries it] or CVS after a good soak and dry use the iodine paint top and bottom then let it alone for a few days, then check and let us know what it looks like. Hopefully the ES will help draw out any thing that maybe in there and the iodine will clear up any infection. Keeping her confined like you are will help keep it cleaner. FYI don't let her drink the ES water it is also used as a laxative.Anyone have any ideas on what this could be or how to treat? She started limping about 4 days ago. Noticed that top middle toe seemed slightly swollen but bottom has a semi hard swell. It is not hot to the touch and doesn't seem to be getting better or worse. I have been keeping her confined to a smaller area so she isn't walking on it too much. Any help would be appreciated.
