Pekin Duck Club!

I looked at the coops at tsc and really liked them for my chickens! Then I read the reviews on their website about most of them and decided to build my own chicken coop and duck run. That's a lot of money to spend if the things are going to fall apart. I have taken from each of there designs things I like and will put them into what I build.

You need to always know what the temp is in your brooder and they have to have a way to get out from under the heat. If all else looks good, eating ,drinking pooping normal and eyes look clear and no discharge coming from nares then your Pekin maybe too warm which can be hard on it's health too.
well their poop is really runny at times but other times its normal. They only get the heat lamp at night and they usually sleep under it but they can get away from it if they want. They other two ducks seem fine but the pekin pants. So maybe it is because he is fatter and very fluffy

What are the temps in your house where you have their brooder? as long as the Pekin is acting like a normal duckling maybe that true just a little on the pudgey side and get warmer than the other 2 especially if cuddling.

We bought one of the tsc coops it was busted right out of the box. FLIMSY FLIMSY FLIMSY material.

I do free range mine BUT you have to evaluate your pred risk, everyone's areas differ... i have many birds out, the main flock is Muscovy. Then i also range the standard chickens. SO basically i have birds everywhere.

I agree. Mine free range during the day with the chickens and go in with them at night. I have a box set up in the corner of the coop and if the chickens get in it, they will run them out of it. Day or night. It's kinda funny. I don't know if they know they are ducks.
