Pekin Duck Club!

My ducks won't take nothing off the chickens but different breed to I think Muscovy's may be a bit tougher,. My Game roo use to try and push around a drake and the gander but he finally learned that wasn't such a good idea. You may just have to keep them separated for good. How is her eye looking tonight?

It's funny ML none of my ducks will challenge my chickens, they are darn cocky my ladies.. and i would definitely not say my flock is docile, the one scovie duck went after my call duck!

No challenging going on here the chickens have learned best not to get to close to a duck or feathers will get pulled. Just when Rufus was younger he really took top cock to heart. lol

LOL.. have you always raised them together? see my chickens were penned for the first year or so.. the ducks never had direct contact prior to that with chickens.

While i am mostly cool we can hit 100F here and i'll tel you when you feel like 50F is warm, it can be a lot to deal with, shade and plenty of drinking and swimming water, most of my ducks in the deep heat of summer take to the trees... i have even taken to adding icecubes to water troughs, pans etc..

Fans are definitely an option for this breed if you have the ability ...

So cute!

Great, thanks so much. We are tweaking their set up to step it up! ;)

I have never experienced having a duck with no nostrils.

Best advice... find an avian vet or any vet willing to help.

Birds bleed easily so I would seek professional help if at all possible.

I believe the beaks are made of keratin.

I know you want to help the little fella. Proceed with caution.

It's looking good again tonight. Looks like the chickens left her alone today

Could I put some triple antibiotic ointment around her eye? Or would I have to worry about it getting into her eye?
I have seen where other have used it around the eyes before, as long as it doesn't have pain relief in it I'd say it's fine. I really like Veterycin spray for wounds and infections, Very safe to use around the face and eyes.
