Pekin Duck Club!

Please do not give up.  Three days, already improved . . . mercy, that little duck, I feel, is going to be okay . . . but needs a little more time and treatment.  Like expect it to take some weeks.  Did you read about Bentley?

Could you remind me what treatment you are using?  Thanks!

I had a pekin that I think had wry neck(might have been injured)but it went from being normal to his head sitting upside down on its back in approx2 days. I didn't treat it at all and it survived and was better within about ten days.now you can not tell which one it was. I wouldn't give up quite yet

How would you identify one Pekin duck from another. To me they all look the same, I don't know what to look for to set them apart. Planning to add 2-3 Pekin ducks to my flock. Currently have Pomeranian Geese and they have patterns on the neck that I can set them apart.

Once you get to know them they have slight differences.
I've never heard of wry neck how do ducks get it?

At this age (as in your photo) it is very difficult to tell them apart. But wait! Soon they will start developing their white feathers and they will have individualities that are apparent...more tail, less tail, a little bigger and bolder, a bit more timid, larger, smaller...the differences will add up if you look closely.

We have two, month old pekins, and they are completely different ducks. Genghis is more aggressive and holds the feathers on his forehead up when he's out and about. Kublai's feathers are coming in faster and fuller. Their eyes are easy to tell apart. Kublai has soft eyes and Genghis has tough, wide eyes.
We were worried as well, and considered getting bands for them, but we held off. Glad we did. You really don't need them once you see how individual they are.

that's sweet. They are unique individuals just like we are. Except they are cuter lol.

Definitely I think they have the best little personalities. They are very squeezable to bad my guys don't like being picked up, I can pet them and feed them but they loose it if I try and lift them.

You are so right about squeezable. And my friend has a pekin and she's so cute and doesn't like being held either. One time when I was house sitting for him I had to pick her up to put her in her hutch for the night and once I had her she struggled a lot and fell out of my hands but luckily I was super close to the ground and she only dropped a few inches. I even tried kissing the top of her head but she moved away. Funny girl….

Mine are exactly the same! They cant stand being picked up, but if I'm sitting on the ground, they will climb up onto my lap and shove the better part of themselves into my jacket. But when we take them in/out of their nighttime pen (its a stock tank so we have to lift them in and out) they kick and scream! Seems like a Pekin trend. "High up! High up! Noooooo!"
