So ducklings are messy with their water. I saw some lifted up water platforms but needed something small enough for a brooder, and plastic so I could rinse it.
I found these little trays from walmart. I forgot what the label called them, but they're like microwaveable TV dinner trays in the pan section of walmart.
I also like that the divisions help support the waterer and it doesn't tip.
The trays were I believe $1.30 each, covered in welded wire. These have a lip so the welded wire tucks underneath.

Easy to rinse, some shavings are hard to get out and I'll probably need something bigger with a bigger waterer. But for now it's perfect!

Yes.. they can eat cooked or uncooked.  Ducklings should just be fed the normal ducking starter feed as its the best balanced diet for them.

Adults can be fed the rice.. but it must not be all they eat as it will not be a balanced diet.

I mix in uncooked white rice with my ducks normal food to bulk it out.  My chickens too, love the uncooked rice and will come running when I call them as they know I will scatter a handful over the ground. Its a great way to train them to come back in the coop at night, or if you need to lock them in if you go out.

My first ducks were muscovy and 1 got angel wing. I've read too high of protein.
After the 1 got angel wing I mixed ground up oats to try to keep protein down. They others were fine.
These ducks are a pekin and 3 hybrid 300's. Any feed suggestions for age? I wouldn't want these to get angel wing
Our feed store will sell duck feed (Mazuri), but they float and look like cat food. It seems for older ducks by the size. 14% feed at $32.00 a bag

I feed mine flock raiser, but free range them already at two weeks, and they only get a limited amount, since I have a jumbo, it has to be on a limited diet. It's worked so far, and feathers are coming in well, but they're just now getting wing feathers, so we'll see

I have another Q. is it normal for my 3 wk old pekins (large Grimaud Pekin) to be so heavy they lumber when they walk?

How long do u let them stay outside to free range? I want to let mine outside in a pened area, the temps this week will be in the 60's w/some wind.

My temps are in high 70's and they stay out for 4-5 hours a day! In your weather, maybe 2 hours?

@CyndiD your ducks will let you know when they're cold and/or ready to go back inside the brooder or coop. When they stop playing & huddle together, they're cold so it's time to go inside.

I tried a couple containers but this was perfect with the lip. The lip helps tuck under the sharp edges of the wire safely.
I'm thinking when they get bigger and need a bigger waterer some sort of cake pan will work.
When they're little and can't have big water dishes, they like to waste what they have! Cute little stinkers

I did the same with a paint tray from the Dollar Store. Only lasted a couple weeks because 8 ducklings went thru way more water than my mini waterer and the gallon jug wouldn't fit on it :-(
