Pekin Duck Club!

Hi! Thanks for the welcome! :)

Ok! I will try to figure out a safe place for them on our property when I get home. We do have a detached garage with a covered lean-to that has a door that could possible be fenced in so they could roam around and have a coop put in it. I will take a picture later on!
Thank you!
Brilliant!

We can go over some of the finer points of fencing soon. Hint: Half inch, metal hardware cloth - in key places to keep little predator paws from grabbing through the fence. No gaps at the bottoms of fences.

You are going to do great!

Another suggestion about fencing...the most secure fence for any sort of poultry will extend below ground level to deter anything from digging under. Also, nothing more than 1/2 inch fence fabric. Anything else they can stick their heads through (the grass is always greener you know) and end up losing their head to a critter.

Ewww lol! Well that answers my next question will leave no gaps anywhere! I've the posts set in and gravel boards attached as low as possible. I was going to concrete around it to stop any digging. How wide a trench would I need ? I was thinking a couple of inches either side off the gravel board and a couple off inches deep? :)

These are my boys before their tails curled. I still need to come up with names for them! I feel kinda bad they dont have name yet.

Wow I feel so welcomed here! Thank you so much everyone! I will for sure post pictures of our lean-to and take any suggestion on how to upgrade it for the ducks and still make it accessible for my husband. I do have a German shepherd but she wont bother the ducks at all when she goes out to do her business. We mainly have cats around our street.

concrete two inches wide and two inches deep is probably not going to stop much of anything from digging under. at least 6-8 inches deep if using concrete and then you have to put drainage in for heavy rains or you will have a small pool. Another option is wire. Dig your trench 2 inches or more deep but extend it out 8-10 inches from the bottom of the fence. Then attach wire (1/4 or 1/2 inch fence fabric...not chicken wire) to the bottom of the fence and lay it in the trench you dug. Fill it in and you have a pretty secure barrier against digging predators.

They are beautiful. The picture almost looks like a post card...that could be your Christmas card this year.

I'd want to add some decorations to this, but...

Lol!! Looks like wire it will be! I have that sort of trench depth at the minute, which is handy!
