They seemed happier to see me today I'm just gonna give them time and not rush it. An I will be making them a super nice home in our backyard.
you're welcome. I love Pekins and yours are gonna love their backyard once it is done. I like how they all hang together.

I soon hope to join the Pekin duck club (part of the reason I joined this forum). I have everything ready to care for a little duckling, but I just don't know where to get one.

Just some information. It sounds like you are only planning on one duck????? Keep in mind that ducks are flock birds and need the companionship of other ducks. Multiple males will typically do fine together. But, if you get male and female plan on getting 3-5 females for each male you get or there can be problems with over breeding.

I know that there are folks on BYC that have only one duck but they have a unique relationship with that duck as a rule.

I always thought two males would fight? So I have a drake, I can get another one and they'll be OK?

Yep, I only plan to get one. It will live in the house year round and be my buddy.

If they have enough room, are about the same size and age, they will probably adjust over a brief period of time and become good friends. There are however never any guarantees. At the very least they will eventually tolerate one another. If you get a female you risk the single male you currently have over breeding her and causing injury or even death. It is recommended that each male have at least 3 females minimum.
