Freakshow5 yes that picture does help thank you!! So I'm assuming a coop 24" high will be okay.
I completely agree with what your saying the neighbor needs to be responsible for what their dog does also. And it's up to us to make sure our animals no matter what they are are protected too, When I cannot be home my animals are behind fencing and yes we spent a small fortune putting up no climb horse fence the last time around because bears were tearing down our welded wire fence. But when I say fencing it can be dog kennel to plastic poultry fencing sometimes anything like that will deter an attack, doesn't have to be expensive but something needs to be there for their protection. It's just too easy for something to happen so fast before we can even react. I'm sorry if I sounded heartless, I just know you cannot go off and leave your flock outside with no protection sooner or later something is going to happen.Yes, I completely agree, but wouldn't you agree that's on the neighbors if they can't contain this dog otherwise? I go on 'whoever is causing the problem also needs to cause the solution.'
We couldn't fence our property if our neighbors were causing a problem. We'd need a fence 6 feet tall to keep out a determined large dog, and the cost of the fence itself and the permits required would be around $6K. I know that because we were looking at doing that before we decided to start looking at selling and buying a bigger property next spring, somewhere we'd be staying long-term and would be willing to put that kind of money into fencing something we were about to leave.
is the only issue them being able to perch? If so, you could clip, couldn't you? From what I have gathered about Muscovies is that they are wonderful and for the most part, mellow birds. Miss Lydia posted some pics of her girls yesterday and they are beyond adorable.

Yes after some advice and someone else said she has a pekin drake and Muscovy hen which do great together. I told the girl with the trio I can't do it bc I only have room for one and I understand wanting to keep them together so I think I am going to get a single Muscovy which I can clip but I'm scared to do it personally. So I'm still on the look out for a female but that is my option right now and the muscovy hens are pretty. Its which one to choose! Lol
