@duckies1230 if you have the time you can soak and reapply the iodine every three days till the scab comes off easily when you get under it with your finger nail. I usually do it every other day or every third day. But so far i have only had to treat a chicken.@Amiga
I read the posts by haunted55 so I soaked it a few hours ago and applied iodine. Now wait several days, soak till soft and remove? Hmmm, that seems simple and a lot better than performing surgery. Thank goodness! Hope it works if not I'll continue and try try again...
@anonamouse Congratulations and Welcome.. main thing is to introduce slowly over several days so the new comers and the resident ducks get to know each other through fencing. I use plastic poultry fencing inside their fenced area that way no one can pick on the other it usually only takes 3-5 days before everyone has had a chance to get to know each other, I used a large dog crate inside their duck coop so they could all sleep together but no picking. We are about to get 2 pekin Ducks on Sunday, so hard to find them where I am so we are traveling a couple hours to get them. We already have 2 female Muscovys (and a hen who believes she's a duck) and hope these 2 pekins fit in with them.
