My girl protecting her nest. If I'm able to go candle her eggs while she's not on them will she still take care of them?

As I suspected, Lily layed her egg an hour or so ago. They have tomato, peas, carrots (all diced) green beans, diced egg... Oh! Abd Jojo got down to business with fermented feed. Yeay!!
They are outside now eating bugs. They honestly seem very happy!
No pictures of this last time out. Juggling and leading a parade is hard work! Prep the food, get the water jugs, dress the baby, get all the stuff and living things outside. I didn't have another hand to grab my phone to take pictures(which I do regret! The scene was perfect!).
Hopefully later.
Give Lily a big hug for that. Sweet girl.

Also I didn't realize she even had this nest until like 5days ago and every morning when I let them out she would still cover them with straw then go outside but today she won't leave the nest and she's hissing and stuff at me, so why has her behavior changed? Is it normal? My ducks are normally very friendly

Yes, a broody is very protective. It's a good thing she's not letting you near! It means she's going to be a great mother!!

As MCC said, it just means she will be a good, protective mama. She's a pekin? They usually aren't the best mothers, u typically have to incubate, that's good. If she quit leaving her nest it means she's layed enough eggs so decided its time to sit on them to hatch. Keep a water and food dish close so she won't have to go far if she don't want too! Ah, keep us posted! Baby ducklings are so precious!

I hadn't updated today because my computer wouldn't upload the photos. I finally restarted it.
So, six this morning, I went down to see the ducks. The chickens weren't amused, but they never are. Like most women, they ignore the big mouth man crowing, and sleep on. Mom telling them to get up ticks them off!

Later on (about two hours) I found the egg near the water. Jazlyn told me to give them more worms, so I did. They were happy with her!

She was allowed to pet him. He was curious, but didn't seem nervous.

They are checking out the pop door together.

Duck and chicken egg. Jazlyn didn't die after eating a duck egg, so I finally tried one in pancakes later. Hey! If you understood how city I was raised! Actually it's worse! The suburbs of N.J. Everyone was rich (Whitney Houston's house was three blocks over, and Mr. Rogers was up the street!) and NYC was about an hour. Fresh eggs are still "quaint" to my old friends.

They were quick to venture out, and explore.

They seemed to have a good day. I spent quite a bit of time with them. They may not come running when I call their names, but if they hear the meal worm bag, I have their full attention!
