Yeah. Oh yes, viciously. There was another one that hatched about an hour ago.
I have been told the same thing about Pekins. I have two hens, no drakes, so I really can't tell you the answer. Mine have never gone broody, but they do lay a lot of eggs. Mine have gone through mold and stress (bobcat killed 5 of my 7 ducks) so they aren't laying right now. I expect them to start up again any day now.I have heard that Pekin ducks don't go broody very often, if ever, is this true or have I been fed misinformation? And even though it seems that Rouen's don't lay near as many eggs as a Pekin, is there a better chance of a Rouen going broody. Or am I fighting a "out of season" kind of issue?
Wish I could get my pekin duck to sit on her eggs but when I leave the eggs in the nest I find broken eggs. Any thoughts on this?
