Pekin Duck Club!

Hello,
I wonder if you would know why my Peking is turning yellow. I have a feeling it is the corn they are eating. Would that cause it? They also seem to be losing their white feathers, especially one of the large females. She is a pastel yellow almost all over now.
Thank you.
I have heard that jumbo pekins can turn a yellowish color but i am not sure if that is 100% true I have a crested pekin female and she is very large and think she may be mixed with jumbo and she changing from white to a yellowish but now she is back to white....... Is all you are feed them is corn? Do you have a picture?

I needed some help.I stupidly picked eggs from a nest that mama got off of early. Several birds piped and died in the egg. One didn't absorb yolk and died. One made it But i had to help it out. The last one i had to help out but it is so sticky and now is dried like glue. I cant wash it because i am afraid it will chill and die. It is still in incbator til tomorrow...advice please!

Hi i saw a youtube video about pekins feathers turning yellow (from the neck down) mostly the front and stomach of the duck. this was a large build up of oil (done on purpose by the duck) in preperation for going into the water in the winter time so they can stay dry and warm.
try typing in "duck feathers yellow" on youtube and see what you find.

hope this helps someone

ETA: youtube video. the producer of this video talks about his ducks preparing for the cold water. ck this out.

is this a pekin duckling?
you could use some vasoline and using a Q-tip put a tiny bit on the membrane of the egg. i would keep the humidity up.

Here are photos of my ducks turning yellow. First, are they Pekin and second why are they losing their white feathers and going yellow?

How is it going now? Normally they will clean themselves and each other, but if it's really crusty, I'd try just rubbing it dry first. With your hand or a dry towel. If you feel like it needs washed, use warm water, or you can add a little dawn, rinse the duckling well, and use a warm blow dryer on low. Cuddle it in a towel. Just make sure its good and dry. Put it back in the brooder and it should be fine.
Be careful around the eyes and nares.
