My peks are mad at me right now. I came home with three magpie babies and while they're in separate brooders they know they are here, hahaha. I took them out to cuddle and they ran right to the chihuahuas bed and ignored me! Boogers.

Ok,..I know I will sound stupid but how many times does it take to fertilize the eggs,...she has laid 20 so far,..like she did last year but they were not fertile,..I think Mama made sure of that,..so my question is does it take one insemination or several times?,....Could the 1st eggs she laid be infertile then "Rocky" comes along and the rest get fertilized,...or,......what? I am obviously new in the fowl department but have taken care of many animals,..raised 22(house) rabbits for 9 yrs so been thru the gamut with those babies,... What if she starts sitting them,..do I then bring her here with the eggs and help her make a (secure)nest,..she will be depressed with no other ducks or her pond,..I am so frustrated!!

I have a cracked egg that has some floating white stuff or bubbles,..will it be ok or should I crack it open to see if her eggs are fertized?
So,..Pekins don't sit on their eggs?
She has been chased by 3 Mallard drakes but swims with the smallest one,.."Rocky" because he protects her and chases the others off.,..hence the name,..

I have no idea except they must think it's fun because I had 1 Muscovy female on the bottom the other day a female goose on her and my gander on top of the goose. Thankfully half the water had been splashed out because my Muscovy was flattened. Okay but flattened.

Okay I have two questions. One, one of my duckling, they're about a month and a half now, is tilting its head to the side. I don't know of any vets that take ducks near me so does anyone know what I can do? Two, how can I get my dogs to get along with the ducks? I have an almost two year old beagle, a year old lab/pit mix, and a 13 week old lab mix. I know beagles are hunting dogs so I'm worried she'll try to get to them.

This is where secure housing and fencing is very important. A secure house out side to protect your ducklings from night time predators by being locked up before dark and secure fencing to keep predators including our family dogs from getting to them. You can work with your dogs one at a time but someone else will have to give you specifics on how to train. I have dogs but mine are only around my birds when I am with them and never around babies until they are out of the peeping stage.

Tilting his head when did this start? . Do you have any poultry vitamins? or human vitamins ? lets see if @Sarkchick can give you advise she had 2 star gazers recently.

Help please. We were walking in a park along a river tonight and found an abandoned duckling, looks like a Pekin from the pictures. Appears to be about 8 weeks old since it has the beginnings of curly feathers at the tail but does not have mature feathers. It is definitely not wild since it is very friendly and imprinted on humans. I called a wildlife rescue, but they're not open until tomorrow. I did reach a lady who suggested keeping it in a box with towels and a bowl of water for the night. We are in a hotel with limited resources. How warm should it be? Can it wait to eat in the morning?
