Pekin hatching problem

Thanks, that sounds like a good plan. I did find niacin 100mg tablets and brewers yeast. But the brewers yeast does not list niacin but does contain iron (6%).
I did not think they could have the iron.
I will wait for now. I can also order theNutri Drench to have on hand. Thank you so much for the help and explanations.

hi, how are your duckies doing? You mentioned that your crested duck was not eating much. I put luke warm water in the Grower/Starter feed for my ducklings, for the first few days. I make it soupy. and when it dries and they aren't eating it (after a few hours) i take it out and refill with fresh. I just keep doing this. sometimes when it gets thick and I see them trying to eat it I just stir it and loosen it up.
I'm so glad your duckies are doing well. How are you doing, after all this? you must be exhaused.

Miss Lydia, do you live anywhere around Ashville or Maggie Valley. We drove the last May to see the Wheels Thru Time motorcycle museum. It was awsome country
50miles North east of Asheville. Love theses mountains. If ever this way again let me know ,but of course you have to bring your ducks..

I just looked at the nutritional yeast that i have and it does list iron I'd say it must be in smaller quantities than the poly vi sol. On my container it lists niacin at 370% and iron at 4% so very small amount. go with the niacin tabs you just have to crush and mix in their water 125 mgs to 1 gal of water and you may have to mix it a few times a day to keep it from going to the bottom Brewers yeast is 1 Tab to 1 cup of feed.

How are they doing today if still improving maybe not give the poly and start the niacin and just watch there isn't a relapse. Read the post Amiga gave you probably some idea as to how long to give the poly vi sol. I was hoping @Lacrystol would give us her ideas since she hatches regular. Not sure if @casportpony uses poly lets see if she'll say. I really like Nutra drench because it is formulated for poultry and i have used it many times and know it is safe. it can be given straight into bill also. Goes straight into the blood stream. by passes the gut. Pics when you can.

He is eating better. I added a little mashed boiled egg yolk sprinkled on top. I guess color got his attention. I will try the warm water. I have recovered because, yes I was warn out. It helps every morning when I see them all doing a little better.
I think I may need to put hobbles on him, legs still splay at times. And the black/white duckling seems to have crooked toes. (Picture on duck thread)
Since I did not know what breed my muddy gray/brown duck was-the black/white was very unexpected.

Thank you again for your help

The Brewers yeast I have is "now" brand. I guess I did not read to be sure it had niacin. I did mix the niacin (1/2 of a 250) in a gal water. Then I gave all 7 that one time yesterday. I change the water every hour-they are SO messy. The rest of the time it is the save a chick in the water. Thought maybe the little extra niacin was needed. Still gave the poly.
The problem child is getting better. I may have to put hobbles on him, his legs splay at times. He and the blk/wht are on towels for traction. The blk/wht seems to have crooked toes. It is hard to tell with the colors of his feet.
I will get the Nutra drench. I'm sure I will need it later.

Might want to go ahead and hobble the little one it probably won't take more than a few days before the legs will be fine it sure has come around and the toes do look a lil crooked on the blk and white but not bad so they may fix on their own. I think I'd give the Poly vi sol till end of weekend then stop it and see how they do just on the niacin. unless someone comes in who has experience with the poly and says continue. I'd stick with the tablets [niacin] . Evidently brewers yeast and nutritional yeast are different . Just look how good they both look and so precious. Your doing a great job with TLC.. Oh forgot to tell you also your flock is beautiful saw them on the duck thread I believe.

Soooo cute!

Thank you. The flock picture is from last year. They were only about 6 months old. Only good pic of the grey/tan ducks.
And I will stop the poly on Monday, continue the niacin tabs. Will put hobbles on the problem child for a few days and watch the toes on the blk/wht.
Thank you so much for your help. Everyone has been awsome

Thank you WVduckchick. And also for your help during this Trying time. It was bad but I'm hard headed and already planning another hatch with eggs from the Grey/tan duck ( Swedish?) I really like the grey/white and black/white ducklings. I will also find out if it is a genetic problem with her eggs.
