Sorry, I know that this has been idle for some time now, but I have a question about the Rouen-Pekin crosses and I'm struggling to find answers...First, will the offspring be able to reproduce or will they be 'mules' (as is the case when crossing with Muscovy's) and be completely infertile?
Also, if you can breed these, and continue to breed the cross-line ducks with each other, will those offspring start to lose the cross traits (as is the case with chickens, I'm told)? Or will they continue to reproduce the same cross-genetics? I was wondering because I have 3 Rouen-Pekin crosses (1 drake and 2 ducks/hens) and I'm thinking about breeding them. Just curious what the outcome would be.
Ideally, I'd like to get new chicks that more resemble the Rouen traits because I simply like how they look better and my kids prefer their temperament too.
Thank you.
Josh
