Pen Wire..

With that large of wire the Opossums and mink would walk straight in to the cages! You dont cover the 2x4 with anything else?!

We don't have minks in our area and if the 'possum is small enough to fit thru 2x4 wire the pheasants could take care of that on their own.

I kill preds I have no need for something that does not work when the power goes off

coilspring traps work whether the power is on or not

welded wire is much better then poultry cloth the less preds there are the easier it is to defend your flock against them!

For some reason mine never make it out of live traps live neither

If your power goes out that much Im sure glad IM not you.

I have tons of rolls of hardware cloth... 1/2 X 1/2 actually.. But a local breeder sugegsted to go with a welded wire type like the 1/2 by 1 or the 1 by 2. And then other folks say chicken wire works.. and others dont.. lol!

I have about four traps running 24/7 and "dispatch" anything that winds up in them.. but you know, there is always the one that won't trap.. And one is all it takes.

And where would I put the electric wire around the runs? 3/4 of my 20 acres is enclosed by 2X4 horse fence nailed to 4X4's set in concrete with a 5,000 volt electric wire on the top, but some still manage to make it across... Though I do find plenty fried on the fence..

ive heard of people weaving the elec fence wire about 6 inches off the ground thru the chicken wire. Not sure id want a totally electrified enclosure or if it would even work, but they claim it did.

Lol, I'd be afraid of shocking myself or the birds that way.. And how would the electricity no go to the ground with something like that, I wonder..

I thought you could put it six inches above the ground around your runs (not touching the chicken wire so you dont fry your birds.) I dont think Im much help any more help here. Sounds like you have bears or velociraptors getting in your perimeters.
