I have a young Faverolle hen, about 9 months old. We suspect that she's started laying, but not 100% sure yet because she lives with some older birds. Anyway, long story short, she was a shipped egg and hatched with a ton of deformities and possible mental defects too. She pecks for hours at absolutely nothing, has a slightly misaligned face, and is maturing much more slowly than her siblings and is still half their size. We noticed pretty early on that she also had a crop issue (we assume she was born with it). It basically looks like pendulous crop, except we're pretty sure it's set in her chest if that makes sense. It doesn't swing or anything, and it doesn't bother her at all, but it's very clearly protruding. She's always had it, so I've been very careful to make sure it empties every night and that she doesn't get impacted/sour crop. But I'm a little concerned that it could hinder her in the future, or that something else might go wrong. I can't treat it like a normal pendulous crop, because it's NOT that, it's literally grown into the wrong spot since birth. So what am I supposed to do? Any suggestions? Gwarpycrop.jpg GC.jpg

Sorry I have no suggestions. It sounds like you are doing the best you can.

One of my first hens was a faverolle that as far as I could tell had some kind of vision and neurological problem. She was the sweetest girl and ate well and laid eggs. But we would occasionally find her off by herself just staring off into space. It happened more often as she got older and then she finally ended up having a seizure she couldn't recover from.

We gave her the best life we could. That may be all you can do since it seems genetic.
