Anyone familiar with the Penedesenca breed? My chick is about 4 weeks old and showing a comb and wattles but I also know hens have a rather large comb and wattles. What do you think? Pullet or roo?

I do not know that particular breed, but those wattles and comb are VERY red, considering how much down is still present on that chick. I would call it a certain cockerel. (Unless Penedesencas are quite different than any other breed!)

@ChickenCanoe
You raise Penedesencas, right? Can you help here?

Thanks. I agree. Considering that the other 7 chicks (assorted varieties) I have which are the same age don't have much.... I was looking forward to dark colored eggs. Maybe she is just an early bloomer. :)

I'm very familiar with Penedesencas. They look to be Partridge Penedesencas. But I have to say that is an odd looking comb. It should be a bit more elongated along the length of the top of the head.
Due to the comb size it may very well be a cockerel.
