Pennsylvania Chickenstock CLARION TSC April 28, 2012

Aukuma: I don't know about the mite thing, but have a call in to our County Extension office about turkeys as I too am considering hatching them out. I've been told that if 'blackhead' is prevalent with chickens in your area that you should not mix them with your poults. Also, I've heard that having turkeys in with your chickens can decrease or eliminate Mareks, sooooo.... Still waiting on the callback from the extension office on these two issues.

Blarneyeggs are you part of the facebook group for the chickenstock? If not you can be added here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/314496961938682/

I've heard mixed stories too.

Christina on the facebook thread is looking for call ducks, turkey poults and sebbie goslings if anyone has any please post so we know you'll be bringing them.

I would be interested in turkey eggs and still looking for call ducks, sebbie goslings. Does anyone raise cream legbars? I have eggs in the incubator now but am looking for more.

I should have some sebbie babies by then. I have Malay chicks hatching in the incubator right now. If I get time I will be there with..... White and Black Cochin Frizzle Bantams, B/B/S Frizzle Cochin LF, Buff Silkies, Mottled Cochin Bantams, Blue Millies, A pr. or 2 of BLRW Bantams, few BLRW LF (just hatched on 30 March), a Trio of Blue Wyandottes, I'll bring some turkey eggs if they start laying, and some other birds too.

Steve234,
would love it if you could arrange to come. Dying for some bantams, especially frizzles!

I am seriously considering a taking a little road trip with my sister for this event. 4.5 hours one way! If we make it down there, I'll be crossing my fingers for some black spanish turkey poults. I'm still interested in other breeds, though! Also, if anyone has male sexlink chicks they don't know what to do with, I'll be looking for 10+ any large fowl breed.

Hello from Southeast PA!!!

If after your Clarion meet-up any of you are still looking to buy and/or sell, there will a GREAT poultry auction going on in Lancaster County, PA on Saturday, May 12th starting at 10:00am. The location is at the Green Dragon Small Animal Auction at 955 North State Street Ephrata, PA 17522.

Anyone can call me at 610-763-9804 or email me at [email protected] for more info or for a copy of our flyer for the auction.

Many of you seem interested in buying call ducks and sebastopol goslings...both of which I know will be at this sale, plus hordes of other ornamental bantams, large fowl, waterfowl, pheasants, turkeys, cage birds (parrots, finches, lovebirds, canaries, etc.), peafowl, chicks, and much more. We also sell cages, wire, and pet supplies.

If you are looking to sell, we will start accepting at 6:00 am that day. Please keep in mind that any poultry to be sold at auction that is from outside PA, necessary AI paperwork would be needed. Also, all carriers/cages will go along with the animals when sold, so if you want to keep your carriers, just bring the birds in carboard boxes with plenty of air holes and/or wire sides for easy viewing.

Hope some of you Western PA folks can make it!!!

Keith

I have been desperately searching for a couple true Ameraucanas for months now. Unfortunately I can't have any boys but does anyone have any sexed chicks, juveniles, pullets or hens?
I would certainly make the trip there to grab a few. My father in law is also looking for Easter Eggers since our feed store in Butler won't be receiving any he had planned on.

Let me know

Just spoke with the PA Vet Dr. Martin. She said that if we are going to have the chickenstock that we should remind everyone that NPIP can only buy from other NPIP people and everyone should quarantine their new birds for 30 days. She also said that no birds should be out of cages, that they should stay with their poop. We don't want to bring poop back on our shoes to our established flocks. I will be bringing hand sanitizer and paper towels for hands. I'll also make signs to remind everyone of the NPIP and quarantine.

I believe someone is bringing True Ameraucanas in several colors to the chickenstock. They posted on the Facebook group.
