I have a 2 Bantam Cochin Roos that I can bring. They are 3 months old. One is black, bred out of Mille Fleur and 'typey' with some street sweepers. The other has some very nice Mille Fleur coloring ~ I can post pics if anyone is interested.

Ferrperr, are you considering bringing Cream Legbar eggs? and for how much?

Zookeeper! How very sweet!! Makes me want to run right out now and build a barn!!

I have interest in my Holland Trio on a different thread and so will not be bringing them. I will bring the Barred Holland eggs if someone wants them.

Don't need a barn? Zookeeper, DH has a word for suggestions like that, it's 'enabler'. <hee hee> Actually, goats are on my short list, went to my first livestock auction last week, missed the goats being auctioned, but interacted with them and KNEW I had to have some. What I do need even more than a barn is good fencing. So perhaps next spring.

Barred Hollands are an American Heritage Breed. They were popular in the 30's as a dual purpose 'white' egg layer, great foragers and they'll go broody for you (I've got one brooding now ~can't decide if I want to give her eggs or break the brood). I've quoted white as their eggs are more cream to my eye. They are endangered, they were the most endangered American Breed when I got them in 2010, I'm not sure where they've moved on that list, or if they're still the most at risk.

My Avatar is my alpha Roo. Here are the TRIO that I'm selling.

Hubby and I did some talking about the new chicks we want. Does anyone here sex their chicks like they do at a hatchery? We don't want or need any roosters. Hubby said it might just be best to order since this route probably won't get me the girls I need. I was looking at Easter Eggers, Anconas, Blue Andalusian and Silver Spangled Hamburgs. With only wanting a couple of each, I could end up getting all roos if not ordering females from a hatchery is what hubby said.

I've been on the fence about whether or not I could make it out. I'm pretty sure I can, so here's what I plan to bring:

For swap, etc. I have the following

(1) splash Sizzle roo, with extra curly feathers on his chest & tale --could he be homozygous? He has ringlets, quite showy.
(1) pet Silkie roo, he looks like a dark splash, heritage is partridge x splash, rehoming for a city friend, as she was "found out"...
(1) dark partridge Silkie cockerel, small on the crest, pleasant personality.

"barnyard beauty" chicks, all serama crosses:

(2) white Serama x d'Anver cockerel chicks, about 6 weeks -- one is frizzled! --sorry, no females were hatched--mom is a A-size frizzled white serama & dad a white d'Anver
(3) partridge Serama/Dutch x EE chicks, 4 weeks, as a trio, one looks male so far --sorry, EE mom lays cream eggs.

And, as promised, for aukuma: 1 blue frizzled silkie pullet --unless you want a smooth? 1 serama cockerel -6 weeks-- white with partridge-looking wings so far

----Why, Why, WHY??? do I hatch 80% boys, most of the time??? just a little rant....

For the raffle, I can bring a couple different chicken decor items, a dozen fertile serama X OEGB eggs, a dozen fertile silkie eggs, & some cute girls' clothing or room decor stuff.

It'll be great to see a bunch of you who I know again. RhodeRunner, I hope you can make it out! I don't navigate Facebook well, but I'll join the group if I can.

Most hatcheries do vent sexing, not something you see in the average backyard breeder. Even if you can't find all pullets at the Swap/Meet, coming and meeting other 'chicken people' is always a good idea, you may find something else chicken related that you need, or find just the right solution to that predator problem you've been considering.

I'm happy you'll make it. I'm fine with a frizzle, we don't have any of those yet :)

This is my sizzle roo at 6 mo. At 8 months, his feathers now hang in ringlets. He's been penned with my smooth-feathered sizzle pullet for a month and won't breed with her. He far prefers my two frizzed silkie pullets, and we can't hatch from that, now, can we? Maybe someone can help him change his tastes... Aukuma, he's yours if you like him.
