Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

LOL, nothing. I am not going to risk really getting banned. Two days of no BYC was the worst two days of my life.
BTW, I am still going to the York show! I'll have my BYC name tag on!

Glad you are back on!!! I will be going to the York show too! See you there!!! Not taking any birds to show, I am just dropping some off.

I guess I am not totally banned after all!  I couldn't post or message for a couple days, though.

I am thrilled you are happy with the Ameraucanas, Heather!
I put 8 OEs and 10 Ams in lockdown two nights ago and so far 15 of the 18 total little buggers hatched!  I still have another 3 dozen incubating.  I will see what I have in June and decide if they stay or go to the MD swap.  A lot of the bantam Ams I hatched 3wks ago look single bearded & clean faced.  I am not thrilled about that.

Other than the OEs and Ams, I have at least 2 chocolate bantam Orps 3 Mille Fleur bantam Cochins hatched, too!  I have another I can't tell if it's a Cochin or an Orp.  One of the duck eggs has a pip as well.  I am actually quite thrilled!  This is the first good setting I have had since I got this incubator.  Out of 80 eggs set, I would put less than 10 into lockdown.  I haven't touched the setting, but I am running higher humidity now (40-50% 1-18 days and 67-74% 19-21).

Happy to see u back!!!

I bought a pack of surgical masks/ dust masks.   They sell them in hardware stores and woodworking supply stores.  I wear one when I clean out the coop now. It doesn't fix the problem completely but makes a heck of a difference.
If you don't have any masks handy a hankerchief folded and tied around your face 'robber style' helps too.

BTW... hoping Mr Green Jeans is behaving himself!  No more attitudes?

Mr Green Jeans is wonderful! I can't believe I was ever concerned about having a rooster! Now if I could get the ladies to quit pulling his feathers out at the base of his tail.....

I keep hoping he'll warm up to my older flock of 7 hens... He seems like he tries at times but he's chased them away from his ladies enough times that they don't seem very interested in him... I tried putting him in their coop the other day after they were all out free ranging together and they did really well until they went to bed, he didn't like them up beside him on the roost and was picking at their feet, so I put him back in the other coop.

Anyway, we just love him! He's a very good boy (most of the time... Lol) it's just amazing how he keeps both flocks under his watchful eye and control! Thank you again!!!

We hold him regularly - much to his dismay.... But I think he'll survive! Only attitude is with the older girls

Final count is 9 AMs, 7 OEs, 5 MF bantam Cochins and 2 choc Orps. The OE and Am that didn't make it... One drown and the other was mostly zipped and died. All of the MF bantam Cochins hatched that made it to lock down. The choc Orps are upsetting. I found an Easter hatch choc dead in the brooder - no apparent reason. I only have 5 choc chicks to show for a month of collecting and setting.

Still waiting on the duckling. I made an air hole since it had a few pips but none were through the thick membrane. It better hurry because I need to lock down another batch of eggs by tomorrow night!

uuummmm......please do not throw me under the bus for this..

......but.....do any of us really need bigger incubators ???
Was thinking the same thing LOL
I am from Dover, PA. I am new to the site and chickens. Still in the preparation stage, finding a coop and that kinda thing. Love this site.

Welcome. Good place for questions of all sorts
Hey, Pennsylvanians! I'm new to the site, but definitely not new to chickens. We have a small backyard flock, but I think I've been able to convince my mom to double it. :) We're getting 8 or 9 new chickens, starting with some Ameraucanas (I'm pretty sure they're just EEs though) tomorrow from the local feed store. So excited!
Awesome! Welcome aboard the gang.

There are a LOT of short poultry folks here...just saying..and than galgo98 is like 10' tall compared to all the other gals here
