Welcome!Hello Pennsylvania folks! We just got our first chickens this weekend, and we are very happy with our instant mini-flock. After reading and researching for months, I am suddenly hearing lots and lots during the past week about weasels. I didn't even know we had weasels in Pennsylvania. I have never seen one or heard anything about them. So the question is: do we have weasels in SE Pennsylvania, and is this something I need to be woried about (as if hawks, racoons, and rats aren't enough)? Thanks!![]()
I am wondering the samething! I love my girls and roo. But i worry about them getting to cold and something happening to them. Being my first winter with them is there anything else i can do for them?Does anyone from southeastern PA have any issues with their chickens and the cold weather? I'm wondering if I should take any precautions other than having a draft free coop

Their coop is stuffed with straw, bedding and dry leaves. I have a thermometer in there and it has been reading about 3-5 degress above what my car and phone says in the am. I have all their windows closed and the vent at the top of the coop cracked for venting. Is it true that temp is not what matters that much its the drafts and wind that hurt them more?
Is there anyway to tell if your coop is to drafty?
Also my one hen and roo are silkies and i also have a sultan. They have feathers on their feet. I worry about them getting wet and freezing. Is there anything special about them or things you can do to help with this. Or do they do okay with it?
