and I would think it would dry fairly fast in the coop.
Some just do the walls in the coop and then dust the boxes and floors then they dont need to wait for it to dry.
No question is ever dumb thats why I ask a ton of them at every turn! lol
thanks

..umm, okay,
Turkeys...talking turkey here...I have been doing some reading..sometimes i wonder what cracker jack box some folks crawl out of to call themselves "experts"..but, hey..what do i know?!..never had to deal with turkeys before...anyway,
I read that giving turkeys cold water can & will kill them...is this true?..cause the only thing running around in my head right now is what the double-doodie do WILD turkeys do then???!!!..this can NOT be true....what are we supposed to give them "heated-water" like what..ever fifteen minutes??!!

okay, also.wanted to know, do they get confused in their feeding area & eat their own feces? are you supposed to keep it covered up?? i am reading to much..of the wrong stuff i think...it can't be that ridiculous to keep them or no-one would. Just wanted to check here first for sure...you are all used to me asking umm..unique..not-stupid.. questions, and i don't want to embarrass myself anywhere else..so lucky you!

I didn't treat my heritage breed Turkey any different than chickens. I am not an expert. I had no clue what I was doing. They lived until the axe killed them. That's all I know.
you know..that is what I figured..I am/was reading things that is just way-off base, there is way too much "stuff" out there...at least to me it sounded weird...i had to stop and ask you guys. Thank you Ray!

another question..how would/do you dispatch a turkey? do you use the cone? 22?...thank you. not even going to bother looking that up...had enough crazy reading..don't need to watch "jim-bob" wack a finger off on utube...:/

The only difference between chicks & poults is that the poults need to be shown hiw to eat & drink. I just put them in with chicks as tutors. I do feed a bit higher protien but my chicks eat it as well.
As for dispatching them, mine go exactly the same way as chickens, ducks, geese, etc. They are just bigger than the chickens.

GM folk:

So nice to have warm weather....the crew finally elected to leave the pen to free range today....

Also, had a visit from troyer last evening...he stopped by to grab a couple of those crates....really nice guy....he mentioned raising an interesting breed of chook (that I can't remember) and mentioned his roos do a good job with hawks...
