Hi,
I want a large garden this year ( veggies ad herbs) but am not a very good gardener. In previous years,
I have started plants from seed but they were weak, died as seedlings, and/or had weak weedy stems. This year I want to grow healthy, robust plants with strong stems like I see in the stores. But I want to do it naturally. I need help. has anyone else ever used the system below?
I have the small greenhouse from TSC with the plastic sides and 4 wire shelves. Have 10 of the 72 club mini greenhouse trays with clear plastic domes with soil in them. I have one " mini greenhouse tray " size warming mat. When do I start the plants and where do I put the greenhouse? Watering? feeding? Do I need to replace the soil with something better? I have read that the commercial soils with supplements have something in them which is not good for the native soil. Can't remember the name of it. Thanks!

I would recommend reading and following the square foot gardening method.............they have a new updated book out..............its relatively simple and should produce good yields in a reasonably do-able fashion..............this is what I am doing this spring and onwards.............because I have tried other things with mixed results.

I have had great success with strawberries on my deck and container veggies on my deck as well..........

Wing here tak u mind off of your worries, your good at this kinda fun stuff.....

Anyone think of a celebrity look alike on my 6 wk old CCL pullets?

in my opinion..............this chick is clearly more attractive than don king! :) Rhianna or Adam Lambert seem like good choices , given the pics submitted........

I have 1/2 a green thumb, so here my two cents...If a seeding/plant gets leggie, its mostly because it wants more sun. As I posted earlier today, some seeds want warmer temps to germinate, and some take longer..(LC)...I've always had a harder time with peppers....DK, when moving outside, they need to be 'hardened off'...this entails getting them used to being outside. I usually use my own compost to start, but the ground was frozen so I bought a bag of top soil...I have heard of folks who germinate seeds in wet paper towels, this might work for you with the warming pad...(wish I had one). I started my Toms and peppers, last week, I did the cucs and zucs today, I have a bunch of other stuff to start later...and I always try to get the peas planted on 03/17....
Here's a good spot to post questions,,,,,,http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/cornucop/

I'm right there with you. We just bought that exact same greenhouse from TSC yesterday. I don't know if we're right or not but we loaded a bunch of egg trays yesterday and filed the thing with seeds lol. Hopefully they grow and don't outgrow the containers before they go outside lol
